In this 2.5 hour workshop participants will explore shibori techniques on paper and cloth using indigo dye. Shibori is Japanese resist dying techniques used to create patterns on paper and cloth, traditionally using indigo dye. In this workshop we will cover the techniques folding, clamping, arashi, string binding, and ombre, Students will learn how to prepare and maintain an indigo vat using pre-reduced indigo powder. Limited paper and fabric will be provided so feel free to bring extra paper and natural fabric (cotton, linen, hemp) to experiment with. Minimum 5 students.
