Writing and Printmaking for Activating Community
Inspired by Jessica Snow’s paste-up program during the Ladies of Letterpress Conference in 2023 we are hosting Printing Broadsides with Community, A Wheat Paste Project. At the first meetup participants will develop their content with Pacia Elaine Anderson and learn about the basics of printing with type.
During the second workshop participants will compose and print their original works onto newsprint with help from a team of printmakers including Libby Scobee, Kenya Mitchell, Delmar Taraggó, and Maddie Klaus.
The third time we meet, everyone will go into the community to post their broadsides in approved locations throughout the neighborhood. The prints will be adhered to walls and boards using wheat paste(temporary method for gluing paper to porous materials).
An exhibition in July will feature pictures detailing the entire process, and a selection of their original prints will be exhibited.
