The typesetting & letterpress class covers the foundations of typesetting and image-making with type on the press.

Get to know the ins and outs of letterpress printing. This 4-session class is perfect for beginners and those looking to freshen up their skills! Students will set type by hand, learn type fundamentals and ink mixing basics as well as tailored paper selection for various projects.

Central Print’s Director, Marie Oberkirsch, is a maker, collector and teacher holding a BFA from the University of Kansas in Textile Design and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Fiber. Her understanding of pattern, printing and weaving combined with her passion for artifacts led her to the art of letterpress printmaking. With an extensive background in non-profit arts and event management, Marie is committed to preserving and promoting letterpress printmaking through education, public programs, and letterpress restoration.


Cancellation Policy: Central Print reserves the right to cancel workshops and classes to adjust for enrollment. If a workshop or class is cancelled by Central Print, you will receive a full refund.

Refund Policy: Notice of withdrawal from a workshop must be made at least 7 days prior to the start of the class. No refunds will be given for withdrawals made after that time. No refunds or credits will be given for classes missed due to illness, personal conflict, or other reasons. Please email carrie@centralprint.org to withdraw from a workshop.
