Resistance for the Rest of Us, Artist Talk, Wednesday, April 24th, 7:00pm

Join us for a spirited conversation with Central Print’s 2019 Artist in Residence Libby Clarke. An artist, designer, and educator, Libby is a Printmaking Instructor at South Orange-Maplewood Adult School South Orange, New Jersey and an Adjunct Instructor in Graphic Design at NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies, New York, New York. With numerous exhibitions and work in public collections, Libby also makes work through her design company, Go High Signs.

During her residency, Libby will be working at Central Print on Demand on Print: A Call to Action. This exploration of contemporary issues through letterpress printing will be further explored in her community workshop, Pocket Protest Posters.

Pocket Protest Poster Workshop, Thursday, April 25th from 4:00-8:00pm

Join us for a free workshop led by Central Print’s Artist in Residence for 2019, Libby Clarke. During the workshop Libby will support your exploration of protest posters using letterpress to make tiny posters you can take with you wherever you wish to go! These cards can be used as postcards or posted any number of places.

Libby will discuss the history of protest posters and you will work within groups to refine the content for your prints. Then we will help you with setting type for printing your tiny placards! The day ends with a print exchange–take home your print, and a sampling of those printed by other participants. The workshop is open house style and you may attend the entire session, or drop-in after work or school lets out.

Instruction on letterpress printing and supplies will be provided. All ages and skill levels welcome.
