2019 Wayzgoose in Nashville

We’ve just returned from the 2019 APA Wayzgoose hosted in Nashville, Tennessee by the amazing and talented crew at Hatch Show Print.

The Amalgamated Printers Association meets every summer to celebrate letterpress and catch up with with printing colleagues. From steam roller printing with giant movable type created by Rob Miller from Tribune Showprint, to a musical performance with presses and performers called Manual Feed with Eric Woods from The Firecracker Press — there was truly something for everyone.

We learned about 19th Century Printers Periodicals from Erin Beckloff and were even given the opportunity to leaf through a few original pieces from Dave Peat’s collection. Celene Aubrey and Kim Miller told the tale of two print shops, Hatch Show Print and Tribune Showprint, providing insights into the show print industry. We picked up a few treasures at the letterpress flea market and returned feeling inspired to get back on the press thanks to the beautiful prints we exchanged at the print swap. Non-members are always welcome to attend too — we hope to see you at the conference next year!
