Paste Paper Workshop
Paste Paper is a traditional method of creating decorative papers for bookbinding, card making and other paper crafts. Join Instructor Joanne Kluba, owner of Paper Birds, for a morning dedicated to paste paper painting and demonstrations of how to use paper for end papers in books and for stationery. Paper, paste and acrylic paint is supplied. You are welcome to bring your favorite colors of acrylic paint to the workshop.

Joanne Kluba is a bookbinder and book artist whose work is informed by her background in printmaking, painting, photography and calligraphy. She holds a BFA in Printmaking and an MA in Business from Webster University in St. Louis. She studied traditional bookbinding with conservator Richard Baker in St. Louis, and with guilds and universities throughout the country. She has taught at Washington University, Webster University, Craft Alliance, and in her studio. She has led workshops across the country. Her works have been exhibited in the U.S. and Europe. Joanne’s work has been published in 500 Books, I and II (Lark), and in “Bound and Lettered.” Her work can be found in university and private collections.
In 2001, Joanne founded Paper Birds, a small custom bindery, specializing in hand bookbinding, book repairs, small edition binding, handmade boxes, portfolios and calligraphy. Her clients include universities, corporations and individual collectors.
